Weight Loss & Tone: Grapefruit Diet

 
Dating from the 1930s Hollywood, The Grapefruit Diet is an extremely low calorie diet meal plan that restricts intake to a mere 800 calories per day.
Often erroneously linked with the Mayo Clinic, many professionals consider it to be unbalanced and possibly dangerous.
However, recent research by DR. Fujioka at the Scripps Clinic found that over 12 weeks, participants who ate half a grapefruit with each meal lost 3.6 pounds and those who drank a serving of grapefruit juice three times a day lost 3.3 pound- indeed, many participants in the study lost more than 10 pounds.
Example Recipe: Grapefruit Diet:

There are no specific recipes- here is an example of a 3 week grapefruit diet meal plan that contains about 800 calories per day:
·         Breakfast: Half a grapefruit and a cup of black coffee
·         Lunch: Half a grapefruit along with an egg, cucumber, a bread slice and plain tea or coffee.
·         Dinner: Two eggs, half a head of lettuce, a tomato, grapefruit and tea or coffee.
 
Advantages: Grapefruit Diet:
·         Encourages weight loss
·         Grapefruit is an excellent fruit, packed with vitamins
·         Encourages Healthy eating in moderation.
·         Eating grapefruit appears to reduce insulin levels
·         Encourages a Healthy lifestyle.
·         Regular consumption of grapefruit can also lower cholesterol levels
