The alkali diet can be adapted to improve your weight loss, boost strength training, general health and help overcome illness.
Your body works to constantly keep your blood PH level at 7.3-7.4, slightly alkali. This is so your body can function efficiently. When your body has a high alkali level it:
The above benefits of this diet are obviously great, but it is important that we put it into the right context for your specific needs. An example of this would be when training. When exercising you become increasingly acidic and this slows down your recovery. If we counter balance this with alkalizing foods we can achieve greater results. Recipes, meal plans and ideas on how to structure the diet around your lifestyle can be found below.
There are three key signs that your blood level may be too acidic, constantly over fatigued, frequent colds and infections and sugar cravings. For an accurate measurement for your blood PH level use PH testing strips, which give you a colour coded result that is easy to read.
Tips:
Keep in mind that you are not going to suddenly become too acidic because you ate a piece of bacon or because you drank a cup of coffee. Nor will you dig yourself out of an acidic state because you had a shot of wheatgrass juice. Acidification is an accumulative process, and occurs as a result of your lifestyle of eating. Getting back to an alkaline state is the same.....just in reverse.
The alkali diet should be used in conjunction with one of our weight gain diets. When training your body turns very acidic due to your protein based diet; mainly meat and your constant working out. If this diet is used correctly, it enables you to train twice a day if needed, recover faster and train harder.
The key to maintaining a good alkali level in your body is to makesure that you always eat more alkalising food than acidic, so a 60 / 40 ratio. In addition to this, when you eat your food is important when training. You should eat alkalising food before training, immediately after training, before bed and when you wake. Simple effective food can be easily eaten at these time e.g. Spinach, sprouts, cabbage, cucomber, broccolli etc...

If you are feeling incredibly run down and seem to be a magnet for illness then you may need to look at your diet. This is a simple way to change your lifestyle for the better. Try and workout out what it is your eating by writing out your weekly diet. Once you have achieved this go down the list and look at how many acidic / alkali foods you are eating. You should then, roughly be able to work out a percentage of each.
Your aim is to make it so your diet is 20% acidic, 80% alkali.
For any effective weight loss programme you need to be eating 5 small meals a day. This is because your body gets used to the structured intake of food and reduces fat stores. The main thing with this diet is, the more alkali your body becomes, the more effective it will be for weight loss. So the more alkalizing foods you can eat in your five small meals, the better.
